The mission of the Narayan Institute of Agricultural Sciences (NIAS) is to promote the creation and dissemination of knowledge about agricultural ecosystems.
Narayan Institute of Agricultural Sciences was established to impart education on Agricultural Sciences. It's a venture with a cause of enhancing the State's self-reliance in the field of quality education in Agricultural Sciences in order to increase agricultural production-productivity with economic growth keeping in view of increasing population and decrease in cultivable land under increased adverse conditions. The institute is following the Norms, Regulation and Syllabus prescribed by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India.
Narayan Institute of Agricultural Sciences was established to give the much-needed impetus for Agricultural development in Sahabad region of the State through Agricultural Education, Research and rapid transfer of improved technologies related to crop production and animal management.Indeed, establishment of a Faculty of Agriculture devoted to higher learning exclusively in Agriculture and Animal Sciences was aimed to transform State’s traditional subsistence Agriculture scenario into modern scientifically oriented production system.
The institute was established in 2019 withthe vision of being recognized globally for developing value basedhuman resources in modern agriculture. NIAS is a well-trained centre for agricultural education and research in eastern India. At present, it offers two UG programmes {B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture and B.F.Sc. (Hons.) Fisheries Science} along with seven PG and Ph.D. programmes in agriculture.

The Narayan Institute of Agricultural Sciences, is committed to quality agricultural education aligned with ICAR guidelines, with strong emphasis on practical and value-based learning. Experienced faculty ensure academic excellence while fostering innovation and scientific thinking. Through extension activities, Kisan Melas, and farmer–scientist interactions, the Institute actively contributes to the dissemination of modern agricultural technologies. Equal emphasis is placed on students’ holistic development and preparation as skilled, socially responsible professionals.

NIAS prepares students with strong technical competence, critical thinking, leadership, and problem-solving skills through modern laboratories &farms in a disciplined and conducive learning environment. Holistic development is promoted through NCC, NSS, sports, CCTV-enabled monitoring and a rigorous evaluation system, supported by career counselling and mentoring. Students gain national-level exposure through RAWE conducted at ICAR institutes. The Institute integrates innovation, technology, and sustainability through advanced academics and translational research in collaboration with ICAR institutes under signed MoUs. Emphasis is also placed on experiential learning to address real-world agricultural challenges and improve farmers’ socio-economic conditions.
